A Thousand Visitors!

Not to my blog, of course. I have only a teeny tiny following so far. However, I have just hit 1000 unique visitors to my Hubpages site! How exciting is that? I've made around seven dollars total since I began, but I am having lots of fun. I am hoping to have more time to write Hubs (and blog posts) in May, so I'll give you another traffic update then. I'm pretty proud of myself for achieving this milestone even before three months is up, but there is a lot more to be done -- get my bounce rate down, ad clicks up, etc.

Hubpages Update for February

Well, I surpassed my goal of making $3 in February, coming in at a little more than $3.50. Yaaay! Over the course of the month I won not one, but TWO HubNugget awards, which accounted for the increased traffic (and therefore, revenue) in my account. I've been publishing about one hub per week, and I hope to continue that through March. I would like to have another month clearing $3 (or more) without any significant time spent promoting or backlinking my hubs. Starting in April, I plan to write more, but that's for next month's update. Some stats:

• I have more than 40 followers now.
• As of February 29, I had written 18 hubs.
• I surpassed 1200 views.

Shoes, Glorious Shoes

I love me some shoes! And even more than that, I love me a bargain! So when I can combine the two, I am in my happy place.

I got these shiny high heel platform pumps at Lane Bryant on sale for $40, then half off the sale price, and then I had a coupon for $25 off of $75. I ended up paying something like $13 for these beauties! I've worn them twice, and while they're not the most comfortable shoes in the world, they're fine for morning wear. (My feet swell at night, so they're not great to wear out to dinner.) But for such a bargain, who even cares?

Madonna is Still Amazing

I just got back from a Super Bowl party, and I was floored that after all these years, Madonna still has it! Of course, she was lip-synching, and her moves have slowed down a little bit over the years (she's 53, for goodness' sakes!) but she is just a great entertainer. None of the other performers in the halftime show could hold a candle to her. The opening with the Roman soldiers pulling her in dressed as Cleopatra was over the top, but that's the point; it's all about the spectacle. And nobody is as spectacular as Madonna.

Rundown of my First Month on Hubpages

Well, I've been hard at work Hubbing for a month now, and I am proud to say that I have achieved some good things.

• I've written 13 Hubs.
• I have 13 followers on Hubpages and 6 on Google+.
• I've become a Level 1 Commenter.
• I've answered more than 10 questions.
• My Hubs have been read nearly 450 times.
• One of my Hubs has been read more than 100 times!
• I'm getting traffic from Google, Bing, and Yahoo!
• I have made nearly $1.50!

Now, $1.50 may not sound like a lot, but I was only approved for the Hubpages earning program on the 9th, and I don't have a lot of Hubs yet. Right now, I'm averaging 6.5 cents per day, which means it would take me two years to reach my first payout. However, I am confident that my earnings will grow as I write more and let my content mature. This is a long term strategy for passive income!

My First Dollar

Today I checked my Hubpages earnings, as I do every morning, and I was thrilled to find that I have broken the one dollar mark! It may not seem like much, but I've only been verified to earn money for just over two weeks, and I had only written ten hubs as of this morning. At that rate, I'll earn my first payout in . . . just over two years. TeeHeeHee! But Hubpages is a long-term money-making strategy for me. I'd love to be able to put up some quality writing when I have time, and when I don't, let the money keep trickling in anyway! What are my alternatives? Sit around and not make any money at all--or improve my craft!
